Why Does the Resurrection Make a Difference?

Lee Strobel discusses the evidence for and importance of the resurrection.

NKJ Romans 10:8-10 "8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

  1. How often would an investigative reporter have reason to visit mental hospitals? What is the percentage of patients in mental hospitals who claim to be God? I do not believe that Lee Strobel met a lot of people in mental hospitals who claimed to be God. I think he is just making that up for dramatic effect.

  2. Vinny,

First,I think what Strobel actually said was, "As a skeptic I said I met a lot of people in mental hospitals that I would cover as an investigative reporter who would claim to be God...."

Second, he is referring back to the kinds of things he said before he was a believer, "when he was a skeptic," so we might not want to press him too much on it now.

Third, I understand why you are suspicious, especially since my own dealing with mentally ill people has not been that there are a lot who think they are God. However, I don't have the years of experience reporting on such things that Strobel has had, and I would guess you don't either. At any rate, I don't see how you can be sure enough to openly accuse Strobel of lying.
